I created the life that I wanted with a plan and hard work. I literally carry my journal in my bag. I know I could put it in my phone but I’m old school in that way! My mom always says write it down and make it plain! Not only am I making it plain but I’m also affirming to myself that what I’m writing will come to pass.
What inspired you to start your business? What motivates you to keep going?: I started TuShea Natural as an answer to expensive prescription creams that still didn’t moisturize my skin, left me smelling like a medicine cabinet, and filled with steroid. I created the product line so that people of all budgets who want an alternative for skin care can afford luxury all natural type bath and body products without breaking the bank. Helping people motivates me to keep going. I do this for Ms Jackie who uses TuShea Body Whip because it helps with arthritis pain and Ms Debbi who says that a little of our Body Whip on her face keeps her wrinkles away. I do it for my son, who is 5 and watches me while I mix products and run a business. I want him to see his mom making a difference in other people's lives.

What makes you HUMAN?: Working to be the best version of myself that I can be is what makes me human. Knowing that I’ll fail at some things but I will succeed at many things. My failures are just setups for my success.
What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?: Owning a self care company the three things you should know are
1. Be kind to yourself! Life is hard enough without you being in your head judging yourself.
2. Do whatever you need to do to be who you are. Figure out what makes you happy and do it. But don’t just stop at one thing, keep looking for things that make you happy and keep doing that!
What's something we can incorporate today to LIVE LIFE WELL?:: Add a plant to your life! When the pandemic first hit I have to tell you I was in a funk. Stuck in the house when the weather was at its best. Though I attended every IG party when morning came I was still stuck. I’ve never been much of a plant person prior to the pandemic. I was online and a friend who is one of those awesome farmer type women, gardens has chickens stuff like that, went her social media selling dumb cane plants. I bought the plant with minimum expectation of a long life but setting my intentions on this plant to bring fresh life into my home. This plant is now flourishing but has fulfilled me in a way I never knew it could! I say that to say living life well doesn’t have to be something huge or expensive to impact your life in a huge way.

What inspired you to start your business? What motivates you to keep going?: After being a nurse for 11 years, and the physical/mental toll It took on me, I knew I needed a change. But I still wanted to help people and with a master of science focus in herbal medicine and genomics + nursing I knew I had to find a way to merge the two and the rest of my colorful background
How do you create the life you want?: I am first honest with myself by saying out loud what it is I want, then I write It down somewhere visible to train my mind. From there on out I become very conscious of making choices that align with what I want.
What makes you HUMAN?: My Chakras are aligned but I can still be with the sh!ts
Lol but really it’s true. I know I’m not perfect, I know I might fall but I equally also know It ain’t in me it’s in me so I always have to get back up.... for my clients I call It course correcting.
What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?: 1. It’s a wholistic effort (mind body and spirit)
2. There is no cookie cutter perfect way, but you must honor you first
3. Self-love/wellness is all about uncovering what's keeping you stagnant in order to rediscover the true you and walk into your best self.

What makes me human is that I am not perfect...
What inspired you to start your business? What motivates you to keep going?: What inspired me to start my own life coaching business was after experiencing my own journey of transitioning from a divorce. Learning how to navigate through life as a new mother and single was very challenging deciding on which focuses I needed to prepare myself for having a life coach would’ve been much easier. So I began to coach my peers in the circle of women in my community which led to me becoming certified and creating Stacey Kiarra life coaching for women in transition.
How do you create the life you want?: I create the life that I want by setting goals prioritizing throughout the year I aluminate most in all toxic environments whether it’s social, mental and physical environments. I also have a life coach and a mentor that keeps me accountable throughout the year.
What makes you HUMAN?: What makes me human is that I am not perfect. I deal with life adversities just like every other person. However I strive to be more godlike yet I understand and judge no one.
What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?: Self-love starts with your spiritual awareness, understanding that God made you for a purpose.
Take time to heal. Learn to understand where self doubt and any insecurities you may have come from I seeking a therapist.
Plan with intentions on self improvement in areas you feel you need. Life coaching can guide you through those roadblocks and help you become the best version of yourself
What's something we can incorporate today to LIVE LIFE WELL?:: To live life well, I would say meditation gives more spiritual awareness. Therapy is a must to untangle our past. And discipline, learning to discipline our mind over our emotions can you help us navigate closer to our goals and a healthy space.

Dr. Shani Collins Woods, based in Nashville, Tennessee, started the Shani Collins Woods Consulting, LLC, to encourage women to practice self-love and compassion. Her work is centered around faith, self-love, and healthy relationships, and she uses devotionals to reach out to women who need uplifting. Dr. Shani believes that self-care is essential; especially while we’re all facing our own Covid-related issues. She aspires to continue supporting women through her consulting business, and she wants to leave this encouragement: we’ll get through this together! What inspired you to start your business? What motivates you to keep going?: In 2013, I was completing my PhD in Social Work. I had heard Dr. Kerry Ann Rocquemore speak about academic entrepreneurship. I was inspired to launch my speaking, writing and consulting business as a means to share my gifts with others. My work centers on faith, self love, success, and health relationships. In 2015, I wrote "The SHE Devotional: 31 Daily Inspirations for a Woman's Spirit, Health and Emotions" as a means to encourage busy women to practice self compassion and self love.
I am motivated to keep going because I know I have a larger purpose.
I want to leave a legacy and make a meaningful impact on the world.
How do you create the life you want?: My faith is extremely important to me. Each day, I strive to wake up with intention and to act in a purposeful way. In general, I plan things. I recognize that my spiritual, physical and emotional well-being matters to my success in life. As such, I strive to prioritize those areas. By doing so, I am able to focus on my goals and reach them. I am also in tune with my feelings.
If something doesn't feel right for me or bring me peace, I separate from it or move in a different direction. My life has to be peaceful. I am intentional about seeking out people and experiences that bring me the most peace.
What makes you HUMAN?: I cry, feel, hurt, get upset, have anxiety, laugh and love like all human beings. As a social worker, I am trained to study human behavior and diagnosis people's problems. I am trained to problem solve. It it easy to focus the lens on others and map out a path for them. But what about my own humanity?
I strive to become more self-aware, conscious, and in tune with myself, my feelings, my thoughts, my joy and pain. I also strive to tune into the plight of those around me. My husband, Timothy, tells me I care about issues that others might not find interesting. I love knowing why people think, feel, and behave certain ways. My passion for seeing people live whole healthy makes lives me human because I share that same desire. If I can help others learn and/or be taught by others, I welcome the experience. We are all works in progress.
What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?: I speak on self love and wellness each day and to many people in various spaces.
I always tell people: self love and self care are not independent. If you do not love yourself, you will not care for yourself.
Second, self love allows you to clearly know your value and self-worth as a human. When you know your worth, you will raise the standards for yourself. Third, boundaries are a part of self-love. It is not selfish to prioritize your spiritual, mental and physical health You must protect your personal peace at all costs.
What's something we can incorporate today to LIVE LIFE WELL?:: Given the gravity of Covid-19 and its impact on all aspects of our lives, self care is essential. I believe it is important to strive to to make responsible food choices and to exercise. It is important to make time for your spiritual, physical, and emotional health. Activities like prayer and meditation, walking, jogging, running, dancing, and writing, signing, even TikTokking and provide a release. You don't have to be perfect. You just have to try to prioritize yourself. Also, let go of shame. During this pandemic, if you need help in any area of your life, ask for it. Shame paralyzes us and stresses us out. Due to Covid-19, many people are extremely stressed and struggling with anxiety. We all need help in various areas of our lives. We will get through this experience, together. Ask for what you need. Don't suffer in silence.
