What inspired you to start your business? What motivates you to keep going?: While I'm a Black woman and absolutely understand the unique support and empowerment Black women need, I'm an intersectional feminist and wanted to provide merch that uplifts all women; black, brown, trans, white.... While we definitely have differences and unique needs, we are humans first and foremost and share a need to support and uplift each other.

 

So, I have t-shirts, hoodies and accessories that is Black culture-themed and for women in general. I'm also a woman in STEM. I help development teams with product design by conducting user research and help them engineer products that truly support user needs (UX). So, I also have a growing collection of merch with that theme. Right now, the merch is generalized but I plan to shift the focus to women and Blacks in STEM.

I just started this year and while marketing is hard, what keeps me going is my continued belief that this need still exists. We (women) need more apparel and accessories that reflect our vibe whether it's confidence, progressive, pride, thankful, etc.

How do you create the life you want?: I try to always be learning and growing, then share what I learn about health and finance with people that I love. Even as a mid-career single mother, I returned to school to get a Master's degree and advance my career. I make an assertive effort to be an empathetic and understanding ear for my family and friends, even if I don't agree, because what people need more than agreement is to feel heard and understood.

What makes you HUMAN?: Being alive first and foremost. We all deserve love, respect and fair treatment in our pursuit for happiness and prosperity. Equal to receiving the basic rights of being a human, we need to actively work to respect the humanity of others as they too deserve love, respect and fair treatment regardless if we share their experience and their views.

What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?: 1. Self-love and wellness is a marathon not a sprint.

2. Self-Love: The world throws challenges away daily, and so it is a daily effort to practice self-love and self-care.

3. Whether it's coffee with a good friend, reading a good book with a lavender candle burning, or sporting motivational apparel, there's so many ways we can (and should) include people and things in our lives that uplift and encourage our mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being.
