Be kind to yourself! Life is hard enough...

I created the life that I wanted with a plan and hard work. I literally carry my journal in my bag. I know I could put it in my phone but I’m old school in that way! My mom always says write it down and make it plain! Not only am I making it plain but I’m also affirming to myself that what I’m writing will come to pass.

Queen_Terran Dampier-01.jpg

What inspired you to start your business? What motivates you to keep going?: I started TuShea Natural as an answer to expensive prescription creams that still didn’t moisturize my skin, left me smelling like a medicine cabinet, and filled with steroid. I created the product line so that people of all budgets who want an alternative for skin care can afford luxury all natural type bath and body products without breaking the bank. Helping people motivates me to keep going. I do this for Ms Jackie who uses TuShea Body Whip because it helps with arthritis pain and Ms Debbi who says that a little of our Body Whip on her face keeps her wrinkles away. I do it for my son, who is 5 and watches me while I mix products and run a business. I want him to see his mom making a difference in other people's lives.

How do you create the life you want?: I created the life that I wanted with a plan and hard work. I literally carry my journal in my bag. I know I could put it in my phone but I’m old school in that way! My mom always says write it down and make it plain! Not only am I making it plain but I’m also affirming to myself that what I’m writing will come to pass.

Queen_Terran Dampier-03.jpg

What makes you HUMAN?: Working to be the best version of myself that I can be is what makes me human. Knowing that I’ll fail at some things but I will succeed at many things. My failures are just setups for my success.

What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?: Owning a self care company the three things you should know are

1.  Be kind to yourself! Life is hard enough without you being in your head judging yourself.

2. Do whatever you need to do to be who you are. Figure out what makes you happy and do it. But don’t just stop at one thing, keep looking for things that make you happy and keep doing that!

What's something we can incorporate today to LIVE LIFE WELL?:: Add a plant to your life! When the pandemic first hit I have to tell you I was in a funk. Stuck in the house when the weather was at its best. Though I attended every IG party when morning came I was still stuck. I’ve never been much of a plant person prior to the pandemic. I was online and a friend who is one of those awesome farmer type women, gardens has chickens stuff like that, went her social media selling dumb cane plants. I bought the plant with minimum expectation of a long life but setting my intentions on this plant to bring fresh life into my home. This plant is now flourishing but has fulfilled me in a way I never knew it could! I say that to say living life well doesn’t have to be something huge or expensive to impact your life in a huge way.

Self-love/wellness is all about YOU!

I’ve always loved to write. I begin writing creatively as a youth. I would write plays and then have auditions for plays I would put plays on in backyards. As I became older I began journaling. After my son died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident, I self-published my first book, My Whisper from God, available on Amazon.

What makes me human is that I am not perfect...

Queen_Stacey Rivera-01.jpg

What inspired you to start your business? What motivates you to keep going?: What inspired me to start my own life coaching business was after experiencing my own journey of transitioning from a divorce. Learning how to navigate through life as a new mother and single was very challenging deciding on which focuses I needed to prepare myself for having a life coach would’ve been much easier. So I began to coach my peers in the circle of women in my community which led to me becoming certified and creating Stacey Kiarra life coaching for women in transition.

How do you create the life you want?: I create the life that I want by setting goals prioritizing throughout the year I aluminate most in all toxic environments whether it’s social, mental and physical environments. I also have a life coach and a mentor that keeps me accountable throughout the year.

Queen_Stacey Rivera-02.jpg

What makes you HUMAN?: What makes me human is that I am not perfect. I deal with life adversities just like every other person. However I strive to be more godlike yet I understand and judge no one.

What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?: Self-love starts with your spiritual awareness, understanding that God made you for a purpose.

Take time to heal. Learn to understand where self doubt and any insecurities you may have come from I seeking a therapist.

Plan with intentions on self improvement in areas you feel you need. Life coaching can guide you through those roadblocks and help you become the best version of yourself

What's something we can incorporate today to LIVE LIFE WELL?:: To live life well, I would say meditation gives more spiritual awareness. Therapy is a must to untangle our past. And discipline, learning to discipline our mind over our emotions can you help us navigate closer to our goals and a healthy space.

We believe the children are our future...so we believe in servicing them the best we can! Katherine White, an entrepreneur based in Houston, Texas, loves to find ways to empower children. When the Covid-19 Pandemic hit and services and organizations relied on online programming, Katherine founded Kids Church Too, an online children’s church and kid’s ministry consulting program. It’s important planting seeds in children’s lives, and Katherine continues to do so by utilizing her org! When it comes to achieving self-love, Katherine relies on Jesus, therapy, and movement as keys for her wellness plan. We admire the work you’re doing, Katherine. We’d love to introduce you to Katherine, Queen of Children’s Church!

Queen_Katherine White-02.jpg

What inspired you to start your business? What motivates you to keep going?: I am an entrepreneur at heart with a growing independent publishing company, Sunny Smiles, and a brand new non profit organization (Beyond The Best Care Academy) and are the heart of all I do is to empower children. So when the world was on lock down, I started missing my time serving kiddos at church. I teach, plan lessons, and form programming for kids at church and I’ve done this, in some capacity, for well over 15 years. Churches started to switch to online services but I hadn’t seen anything for kids. I thought kids go to church too, they need those encouraging messages now more than ever, and from there I created Kids Church Too! My own childhood experiences with children’s ministry is one thing that keeps me going. It was a safe space for me and where I learned about faith in God through activities that were on a level I could understand and practically apply what I was learning. Knowing how important planting positive seeds in children’s lives keeps me going.

How do you create the life you want?: I listen and pray.

I listen to God who created me to be able create the life I want that is aligned with my purpose for being. Not in some super hyper religious way but I listen to my body, to my spirit, and to my silence. In a subtle spiritual way. Then I decide to move or relax. To travel or chill. To work or play. I also do my very best to only do what connects with what I hear in my times of listening and praying.

What makes you HUMAN?: My laughter, tears, and imperfections make me human. I laugh a lot!

Laughter is truly medicine for the soul. I make mistakes and I am imperfect but. I cry at the saddest and the sweetest moments.

What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?: I wrote a children’s book, Little Girl’s and Their Ponytails, filled with affirmations to teach girls to love who they are.

Jesus, therapy, and movement are a part of my regular personal wellness plan which flows from self-love.

I love myself, so

I invest in developing healthy habits that will make me better. When I’m swaying from the healthy habits that work for me, I get affirmations going as reminders of who I am and what’s best for me.

What's something we can incorporate today to LIVE LIFE WELL?:: Incorporate an affirmation reminding you of something beautiful or powerful about yourself, even if you don’t see it yet. Eventually, you will and you will be well on your way to living life well by speaking affirmations over yourself.

[CREATE THE LIFE] I know entrepreneurship is in my blood because I always knew ever since I was a little girl growing up that I wanted to have my own business.

How do you create the life you want?: Although I was labeled a statisic because I grew up, in what was considered the ghetto, without a mother or a dad there to guide me, I decided that I was going to let that label determine who I would be and what I would accomplish.

What makes you HUMAN?:

I am HUMAN because God placed a special gift inside of me to share with the world. And I am determined to nurture that gift so that I can inspire and empower everyone I meet so they can find their special gift and live their best life possible.

What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?:

Self love really starts with self commitment.

I was initially inspired to start my business as a way to help women feel good about themselves by looking good. Over the last 20 years it has evolved to empowering women to start internally, because that's where lasting transformation happens.

What inspired you to start your business? What motivates you to keep going?: I was initially inspired to start my business as a way to help women feel good about themselves by looking good. Over the last 20 years it has evolved to empowering women to start internally, because that's where lasting transformation happens. Every woman I meet with a limiting story or belief keeps me motivated to continue teaching and showing up because I know they need it.

How do you create the life you want?:

I create the life I want by constantly checking in with myself and assessing if I like the space I'm in both literally and figuratively. Like, if I'm not happy or feel like I'm thriving I start looking for what thriving now looks like, and from there an actionable plan is devised.

What makes you HUMAN?: Wow I love this question! One thing that makes me human is that I can be so rebellious at times with instruction, even with what God has told me. Definitely a human trait.

What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?: Three things I want you to know about self-love or wellness is:

Queen_ Sonja Thompkins-05.jpg

1. Self love really starts with self commitment.

2. As you evolve, you'll have to learn to love the new you.

3. Loving yourself the most will allow you to love others the best.

For many years I had a hard time with creating the life I wanted.

Self love/wellness are both so vital to our inner health. We need to understand that in order to be great for ourselves and for others that depend on us, we need to set time aside almost daily to stay grounded.

Queen_Taylor Michelle-01 (1).jpg

What inspired you to start your business? What motivates you to keep going?: Growth of confidence and my overall love for Art inspired me to start my business, but knowing that I am FINALLY investing in myself is what keeps me going. I have spent enough time helping other people's dreams become reality and it feels good to put that same energy into myself.

How do you create the life you want?: For many years I had a hard time with creating the life I wanted. I kept making the mistake of trying to fit Art into the equation, instead of putting it there and working around it. I'm thankful I have a GREAT work/life balance that allows me to be an Artist and an Accountant.

Queen_Taylor Michelle-04.jpg

What makes you HUMAN?: MISTAKES. MISTAKES. And more MISTAKES. I have found that mistakes aren't always meant to make us feel ashamed, but instead offers an opportunity to grow and to show that we aren't as perfect as we like to think at times.

What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?: Self love/wellness are both so vital to our inner health. We need to understand that in order to be great for ourselves and for others that depend on us, we need to set time aside almost daily to stay grounded.

What's something we can incorporate today to LIVE LIFE WELL?:: I started #blackgirlyoga virtually and have found that connecting with other fellow Queens while releasing together to be extremely helpful. I would encourage everyone to find a similar activity for the support.

I create the life I want by exercising my power to choose each day.

“I want a life that is free of constraints both real and perceived. I create the life I want by exercising my power to choose each day. I make sure I am intentional with everything I do and embrace challenges/responsibilities with gratitude.”

Queen_ Rachel McNeil-01.jpg

What inspired you to start your business? What motivates you to keep going?: What inspires me: I started Enlighten Aromas to make some extra money to pay for grad school and I wanted my company to align with my personal mission to encourage women to make time for their self-care while promoting emotional and mental wellness. Enlighten Aromas is a home fragrance brand that provides a practical solution for busy women to make self-care a priority.

What motivates me:

Women have many responsibilities and often do not slow down long enough to think about how stress is negatively affecting them and the health problems that can develop when exposed to extended or chronic stress. Enlighten Aromas are for the women who feel pulled in multiple directions, have constant demands on their time, and just need a moment to themselves. My products help create an ambiance for comfort, relaxation, and peace of mind.

How do you create the life you want?:

I want a life that is free of constraints both real and perceived. I create the life I want by exercising my power to choose each day. I make sure I am intentional with everything I do and embrace challenges/responsibilities with gratitude. My goal is to have the resources to freely live and work wherever I desire. Each day I am working towards that goal by building my brand and working toward my educational and financial goals.

What makes you HUMAN?: My compassion and curiosity make me human. These two traits were my driving forces to pursue careers in counseling and education. I genuinely love connecting with others and helping them become their best versions of themselves.

Queen_ Rachel McNeil-04.jpg

What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?:

1. Self-love takes time to cultivate and with daily practice it becomes automatic.

2. Emotional and mental wellness are paramount and should be prioritized.

3. Anything worth having is worth working for and the same is true for both self-love and wellness.

What's something we can incorporate today to LIVE LIFE WELL?::

You can incorporate spending 10-15 minutes alone meditating and reflecting on where you are and where you want to be. After the time is up spend an additional 10-15 minutes identifying 3 action items to complete by the end of the week to reach the goals you envisioned.

You are a stunning example, Davier. Thank you for walking so wonderfully in your purpose! We’d love for you to meet Davier, Queen of Hair Styling.

What inspired you to start your business? What motivates you to keep going?: When you are walking in your purpose doing what you love, it never turns off! For me, hair is something that came natural to me since I was a young child. It became second nature to me when friends and family would ask me to do their hair. I never dreamed that my talent would blossom into a career I LOVE. Hair is a way for most to express themselves and I'm happy that I am able to do that through Stylesbydavi.

GOD motivates me. My son motivates me. Most of all, My community motivates me. God gave me the talent and skills I have, and because of that I won't stop. It's only UP from here. When something is for you, it's just for you! No-one can take that from me. I am able to serve my community, meet wonderful women, build relationships and much more doing what I love.

How do you create the life you want?:

You create the life you want by having a PLAN.

You go get it. You are your only competition. Let go of fear.

Taking a leap of faith can be scary but in order to get what you want out of life, jump! I put a plan in motion and it has been a smooth transition for me because of it. I've dealt with trial and error and challenges just like any entrepreneur on their journey. I learn from my mistakes and errors in life as I walk my path. Life is what you make it, but in order to see It you have to SEE it, put it on paper, create a vision board, and talk your goals over with your close peers.

Queen_DAVIER GODSEY-03.jpg

What makes you HUMAN?:What makes me HUMAN is taking time out for the things that matter most to me, family.

Every chance I get, traveling somewhere. Enjoying life. I try to also live my life very transparently. Sharing my story with others when I have the opportunity because we all are flawed. When we know better, we do better. That's key.

What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?: -

Let go of what was, and live in your NOW.

-God put you here for a reason.

-Love YOURSELF, we are individually beautiful.

What's something we can incorporate today to LIVE LIFE WELL?:: Be kind. Everyone's path is different. Every journey ends differently. Don't be judgmental.

What motivates you to keep going?

Queen_Susan Demus-01.jpg

What inspired you to start your business? What motivates you to keep going?: After my divorce, I found solace in creating jewelry from gemstones. I was in an unfamiliar place mentally and emotionally, so it became my main form of meditation outside of yoga. Learning how to make different pieces and learning the meaning behind each gemstone caused my inspiration to grow- thus The Risen Lotus was born. I wanted to create unique, modern, and Afro-inspired gemstone jewelry. I saw so many gemstone bracelets and necklaces that always represented other cultures or religions, but nothing that I could truly resonate with.

Besides just wanting to follow through with my new path of entrepreneurship, my 4 year old son-shine motivates me. I want to be able to provide the life I had growing up, and as a full-time single mother (physically and financially), an 8-5 is not going to permit that. I want him to see me grow this business from the ground up, so that he knows dreams are attainable. My second motivation is to build The Risen Lotus on a scale where I am able to provide opportunities for other women and less fortunate families. I am determined to create a non-profit to accomplish it.

How do you create the life you want?: This is something that I have newly discovered over the past 3 years. First, being true to who I am. I live this out to the smallest thing, for instance, getting my finger tattoo. People will always have something to say or an opinion to give. However, I have resolved all insecurities and fears within me. And, any decision I make is always thought out carefully and considering my son comes first. Once those boxes are checked, I set my plan into motion and walk my path with my little man by my side. Lastly,

listening to my spirit without interference has allows given me what I needed in my life.

What makes you HUMAN?:

My soul makes me human. My ability to love and to have understanding makes me human. Not allowing difference of methodologies to create separation between others and myself. If someone comes with an open mind and heart, then I will greet them with the same energy.

What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?: 1.

Self love/wellness looks different for everyone, so the best way to experience self love is by participating in any positive outlet that allows you to release any negative emotions or mental blocks.

2. Self love should have its moments of feeling uncomfortable, like a snake shedding its scales. There is always room for growth, so you should be forever evolving.

3. Enjoy the journey! No one's path is straight and narrow. Don't dwell on the times that you stumble. Your self love and wellness journey is something you will continue to look back on, and be amazed at your progress.

What's something we can incorporate today to LIVE LIFE WELL?:: Spread a little positivity and eat well! I believe karma is a major shift changer in our lives. So putting out good vibes will help ensure you receive them in return, whether its mentally, physically, emotionally, and/or financially.

Global multicultural magazine for cross-cultural identities, let's read...

Cultures are a way of life, but they are an essential factor to countless lives. They’re something to be embraced, to be honored, and to be celebrated. With Cultturs, the global multicultural magazine for cross-cultural identities, cultures all over can exist and be cherished through this publication. Doni Dannyale Ambrosin (based in Fort Collins, Colorado) founded Culturs to celebrate intersectionality; she herself grew up living in four continents, associating with six cultures by the time she reached a young age. Embracing different parts of your identity is a very powerful thing to do, and Doni encourages her readers to embrace all of their respective intersections and cultures. When it comes to self-love, Doni shares that there’s a power in listening: to yourself, to your body, to others, to other cultures...you’d be amazed at all there is to learn (and see!) if you intentionally search for it. We are inspired by your multicultural background and mission, Doni. We’d love to introduce you to Doni, Queen of Culture!

What inspired you to start your business? What motivates you to keep going?: I lived in four continents and associated with six Cultures by the age of 12. My parents are Trinidadian and Costa Rican, and I was born in Brooklyn New York and promptly moved at two weeks old. It’s taken me Three decades to realize and another two to embrace the fact that this is a major part of my identity. I’m in betwixt and between on many levels and I love to celebrate all that is. It’s my mission to help others who grew up this way and who are cross-cultural and intersectional to feel like they matter-because everybody deserves that.

How do you create the life you want?: Well by creating the magazine I created the life I want.

I revel in all the cultural goodness of every part of me-have my ancestry of my heritage and anything I want to experience in life. From the food to the Decour to the style and the people-it’s all about feeling empowered and embracing the difference is that I’ll make us the same. I love that and I love bringing that out in others.

What makes you HUMAN?: It took me a long time to realize that vulnerability of strength. And by being vulnerable I am more empathetic to others.

I thought I had a lock on empathy, but you’re so free when you can just be who you are at all times.

I also realize that what other people think you are usually is a reflection of some part of them and often it has not much to do with you.

I’m human because I try to look at everything from different angles, I try to realize we all make mistakes, and I try to give grace to everyone I see.

What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?:

1. Put you first, so you can adequately support are you want to do and everyone around you.

2. Love yourself-completely, fully, deeply. From this comes all else.

3. Listen actively. We words carefully. And know that in the end your judgment about yourself is all that really matters.

What's something we can incorporate today to LIVE LIFE WELL?::

Love yourself more than anything.

A friend of mine he died of cancer a little bit ago told me to love myself. And for years I didn’t know what she was talking about I thought “I love myself.“ But then I realize loving yourself completely is more than just feeling confident. Or being successful. Or ignoring negativity. It means being vulnerable, it means being there for others, it means not feeling guilty when you need to be there for yourself. It means saying no. It means that you know the depth of your love is bottom less when you’re taken care of and anyone who doesn’t understand that that will eventually come around.

We’re honored to introduce you to Nicholette, Queen of Essentials!

What inspired you to start your business? What motivates you to keep going?: My inspiration came from wanting to heal my daughter's eczema. Once I saw that my products were effective, I then became inspired to create eco friendly, affordable & organic skin care products to a wide variety of people. My candles are sourced with vegan soy wax because I believe it’s extremely important for people to inhale candles that are safe for their health, while enjoying luscious, and environmental fragrances. My husband and children keep me motivated to keep going.

How do you create the life you want?:

I’m intentional about following what God wants for my life. I

seek him first, and when he gives me the green light, I run full throttle towards the goal.

What makes you HUMAN?: What makes me human is that I am empathetic, sympathetic, and I’m not afraid to take a moment and cry my eyes out when I feel overwhelmed. I also see the need of others, and never hesitate to lend a helping hand.

What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?:

Self-love and Wellness is what you decide it should be.

It’s knowing your worth, and never settling for less. It’s knowing that when you need a break, you take that break, and do it unapologetically. Self-love is appreciating every flaw, and insecurity, and knowing that you’re fearfully and wonderfully made.

What's something we can incorporate today to LIVE LIFE WELL?::

I think it’s extremely important for us to declutter our minds, soul and bodies in order to live well. Get rid of all the junk that holds us back, and distracts us. To live well we have to be free, and carrying around a bunch of junk just weighs us down.

What inspired you to start your business? What motivates you to keep going?: I became addicted to opiate painkillers after hip surgery several years ago. Once I got into recovery I started researching non pharmaceutical ways to heal my brain. In the process I developed functional protein powder blends of collagen, medicinal herbs and medicinal mushrooms. I have three blends that target sleep, anxiety, energy and of course, younger skin and thicker hair. With these formulas I was able to take back my power and heal myself.

How do you create the life you want?: Visualize, simplify and practice radical self care.

What makes you HUMAN?: I practice vulnerability by being open and honest about my addiction and recovery. There is no shame in being born with this disease, but I can take responsibility for how I continue my life in recovery.

What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?: Practice vulnerability daily.

Practice saying no, you can’t be everything to everyone.

And laugh loud and often

There is a lot of pride that comes from securing a job!

It’s an honor to be employed. More so than often, it can also be a burden. Especially for Black and brown women. Arielle Grant, founder of Render Free (based in Minneapolis, Minnesota), knows how that burn-out can affect a Black women’s mental, physical, and spiritual health. She created Render Free, a communal wellness space, to promote overall wellness. Many spaces that Black and brown women find themselves in are incredibly white, which can be tirelessly draining. Render Free is a space where these women are not only celebrated, but they are refreshed, rejuvenated, and recharged to continue being a force. Render Free is an incredible example of what it means to have self-love and self-care; to put your best foot forward, you must be your best from your inner core! We greatly admire the work you’re doing, Arielle. Thank you for helping to heal women. We’d love for you to meet Arielle, Queen of Rejuvenating Spaces!

Queen_Arielle Grant-01.jpg

What inspired you to start your business? What motivates you to keep going?: Since moving to Minnesota I have held three job titles in less than two years. This was not the plan nor what I had expected. Before my time in the Twin Cities my resume felt sparse with only one place of employment spanning the course of almost six years. Here in Minnesota I have been invited into numerous companies. I’ve been present in countless rooms.

I’ve sat at the table and been told it was a space to execute my life’s work: advocate and care for those marginalized by racial oppression. However, one thing came into clarity each time – to value equity in theory is very different than to practice anti-racism.

Queen_Arielle Grant-02.jpg

In this context, my new role became to persuade. Before accomplishing what I set out to do, I had to convince those with power from within these institutions that racially oppressed people, Black and brown people, my people, are worthy of our collective attention and the resources needed to thrive.

Existing in these environments 9-5, five days a week, led to a deep sense of exhaustion and ultimately hopelessness. This was not the work I had set out to do. In fact, eventually for each position I held, I realized that this work was not worthy of me. My body began to tell me in various ways (sleep depravity, newly developed anxiety, skin irritation, ect.) that though I can collect an infinite number of job titles, my body is finite.

In all this, Render Free was born. Community leaders are at a loss regarding how to dismantle unjust systems of oppression that have been adopted within their institutions. Persistent adaptations of systemic racism affect the day-to-day lives of people of color. We are left to endure trauma and race-based stress.

"African American women disproportionately experience a number of stressful conditions and events that are linked to the development of mental health problems, including low-wage employment, caregiver and multiple role strain, medical problems and disabilities, social isolation, bereavement, exposure to traumatic events, and poor access to health care. They also experience greater morbidity from stress-related illness... Stress and distress impact health via both direct and indirect pathways. Stress is associated with a wide array of negative health outcomes. – Chanequa Walker-Barnes (Too Heavy A Yoke (54))"

Thus, Black and brown women are left to carve out space for themselves. Moving in and out of institutions that are not created or developed with us in mind, we are repeatedly forced to justify our presence. This continuous effort, coupled with everyday concerns, creates deep psychological, emotional and spiritual fatigue.

Render Free is a space for her – for us.

We will practice loving ourselves.

We will learn together, in community, how to answer these questions with a resolution toward internalized dignity. We will remind one another: we too have inherent worth.

How do you create the life you want?:

I give myself permission to dream. I trust that if the vision and passion is in my heart, founded in love, it's worth pursuing. I give myself permission to try and trust that beauty will blossom from my success and growth will bloom from my failure. I create the life I want by reminding myself that it is good to asking for help. The best of this world has been cultivated by a family, friendship or community. I invite people into my life who show up for me. Truthfully, I have the life I want, not because I've created it but because of the immense blessing of a God that loves me and trusts me with His work. My job is to reach for humility, hold onto gratitude, and extend grace and love.

What makes you HUMAN?: As a little girl, I was described as one who truly feels her feelings.

These larger-than-life feelings of mine fuel my creativity and my empathy.

They are so much of who I am and perhaps what makes me human.

However, as a Black woman, tricked into fixating on survival rather than pursuing wellness, I’ve believed these deep feelings of mine to be inconvenient and dangerous. To be Black, female, tough, unbreakable and strong, is the only way to endure.

Yet, Black women are not simply troupes nor characters of inhumane strength. We are very human, whole beings. What we experience outside of ourselves, in the workplace, on the street, and in our homes will affect our inner selves. Our mental health is wrapped within our physical health.

What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?: I want all Black women to know...

...you are worthy of wellbeing. You deserve to be well + free.

what you feel is okay. Make room for it. Name it. To silence yourself is to oppress.

There is liberation in honesty.

...self-care isn't selfish or frivolous. On the contrary, particularly for Black women it is necessary. We are dying at alarming rates of curable disease. If we are to continue to care for those we love and invest in our community, we must care for ourselves.

What's something we can incorporate today to LIVE LIFE WELL?:: Explore the practice of introspection. Become more familiar with who you are apart from all that you do. Establish a dance from looking outside to looking within, caring for yourself as well as your loved ones. It may feel risky to invite introspection. You may discover inside yourself a myriad of thoughts, fears, feelings, and dreams. Remember, be gentle with yourself.

Pause. Illuminate. Liberate. With certainty we can know that, albeit imperfect, the beauty you bring into the world as counselor, daughter, friend is but a fraction of the gold inside of you.

What inspired you to start your business? What motivates you to keep going?: I’ve always been a lover of fashion and art, as a young girl my late aunt, who was so fabulous, fierce, and also a lover of fashion as well, taught me to paint nails with amazing designs. That always stuck with me throughout my life. I finally decided to go have another passion of mine under my belt. The main thing that keeps me going is advancing my community as an Afro American woman, as well as creating a legacy and being an example that we as a Black community can advance and strive for a difference in whatever industry.

How do you create the life you want?:

I’m creating the life I want through going after my passions.

People can say what they want about you but they can never take away your passion if it’s true and genuine.

What makes you HUMAN?: I’m not perfect but I’m a unique individual who has flaws that make me who I am.

What's three things you want us to know about self-love/wellness?: 1. Self love is the best love

It’s okay to place yourself first

3. The mind is the most powerful machine in the world, produce positive thoughts for positive outcomes
